Bus Éireann have said it was necessary to discontinue operation of the 09.10, Route 245 service from Mitchelstown to Cork because of the high volume of passengers presenting for travel on the 08.10 Route 245.
The bus company was replying to Deputy Kevin O’Keefe who said he had received a number of calls from constituents regarding the withdrawal of the 9.10 Bus Éireann service from Mitchelstown to Cork.
“This has left many people in difficulty as it was a great time to arrive in Cork for college and hospital appointments,” he said.
Deputy O’Keefe had also asked for an explanation from Bus Éireann following the non-operation of the 08.10 service from Mitchelstown to Cork on October 2 last.
In reply, Bus Éireann apologised and said the service didn’t operate due to unforeseen operational difficulties, and whereby every effort was made to rectify the issues in question, it was not possible to operate the service on the day.
The company stated that inconvenience caused to customers who had been waiting to travel on the 08.10 Route 245 Mitchelstown/Cork service on October 2 last is 'most sincerely regretted'.
They said they will continue to monitor the operation of this service as they value the customers who travel with them.
The 09.10 coach will now be transferred to operate as 'an auxiliary' to the earlier 08.10 service.
