
A community came together in grief, in mourning, and in support of the O’Brien family on Monday, as teenager Shane O’Brien was laid to rest with his grandmother.
Hundreds turned out for the funeral Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Fermoy, many donning cycling club kit or a bobble hat, in memory of the bubbly 16 year old who was tragically killed in a cycling accident outside Lismore last week.
Shane’s father, Eddie stated from the lectern that the day was a ‘celebration of Shane’s life’ with the offertory procession, eulogy and the guard of honour, testament to the Clondulane teenager who had a wide circle of friends.
