The European Greenways Association announced this week that photographer David Clynch from Dungarvan, won the SPECIAL Social Networks Prize of the first edition of the European Greenways Photo Contest ‘Photo of Greenways’.

A regular contributor to The Avondhu, David’s winning photograph was taken on the Deise Greenway looking back over Clonea Strand and he shared his photograph online.

David said of his win: “I took the photo while cycling with my son as it was such a beautiful view with the blue sky and sun shining. I was delighted to be chosen as the winner of the Social Networks Prize.

“This prize is all about spreading the word about beautiful greenways and we’re lucky enough to have one with stunning views on our doorstep.”

“The photograph got a great response and feedback online. It was nice to get the comment ‘We truly loved your photo!’ from the Greenways Association.”

The aim of the competition is to promote greenways as infrastructure and the practice of outdoor activities for different types of users (cyclists, hikers, athletes, families, etc.).

The European Greenways Association also said of David’s photo: “We think it’s a very beautiful shot, that definitely makes you want to stand up and go for a walk or bike ride, right now”.

David’s passion for photography started while living in Australia and continued as a member of Dungarvan Camera Club. He set up David Clynch Photography in 2008 and since then has become a Licentiate with the Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) and also with the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

He loves working as a photographer and is in demand as both a wedding photographer and commercial photographer. He was delighted to be nominated by wedding couples’ for a Mrs2B.ie Bride’s Choice Award 2016.
