The community of Castletownroche and surrounds are set to gather in Castletownroche this weekend, in support of local man, Brian Magner, who suffered serious spinal injuries resulting from a bike fall in late 2014.
The 'Cycle for Brian' fundraiser will take place on this Saturday, March 28 to help raise funds, which will aid Brian’s recovery and rehabilitation. A fit and active young man, 37 year old Brian suffered temporary paralysis following the accident and he is presently undergoing a programme of rehabilitation.
Event registration will take place in Castletownroche Community Centre between 9am and 10am Saturday, with three cycle options (a 20km, 60km and 85km route) - all starting at 10.30am.
Costs €20 per person, the route will go from Castletownroche to Ballyhooly, Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Kildorrery, Doneraile, Newtwopothouse, Mallow and back into Castletownroche. Refreshments will be available afterwards in Castletownroche Community Centre, as well as an ongoing family day, while the cycle is happening which will no doubt add to the atmosphere in the village.
Support for the cycle or an upcoming golf classic event, being organised by Castletownroche GAA (contact David Butler), would be most appreciated. Anyone who is abroad or unable to attend the events, but would like to support the cause, can make a donation to the following account: AIB Mallow, Account No: 27603028 - Sort code: 936146, for online transfers you will need BIC: AIBKIE2D and IBAN: IE37AIBK93614627603028.
For more information or to organise a fundraiser, please contact committee members Harry (086-1029935) or Brian (087-2390646).
