One of Cork’s most cherished cultural institutions, Feis Maitiú Corcaigh, is officially calling on the Cork business community to support its historic 100-year centenary celebrations coming up in 2027.
As the festival prepares to mark a century of nurturing local talent in music, speech, and drama, organisers are launching an urgent appeal for corporate sponsors and voluntary stewards to safeguard the event’s future.
Established in 1927 by Fr Micheál O’Shea at the historic Father Mathew Hall on Father Mathew Street, the festival has grown from a four-day event with 300 performers into a cornerstone of the artistic calendar. Today, it provides thousands of young people across Munster with a platform to build confidence and showcase their creative skills before professional adjudicators.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the festival is planning a large programme of centenary events alongside its traditional syllabus. However, fulfilling this milestone requires immediate local collaboration. Due to recent retirements, the festival faces a critical shortage of volunteers. Organisers are inviting businesses to encourage staff volunteerism, specifically seeking corporate teams and individuals to help during the busy festival months of January, February and March 2027.
In addition to personnel, financial backing is crucial. Feis Maitiú is offering sponsorship packages tailored for Cork businesses looking to invest in local youth development and the arts. Corporate sponsorship will directly fund celebration events in 2027.
“Reaching 100 years of Feis Maitiu is an incredible milestone for the people of Cork,” Feis director, Timothy McCarthy, said. “For a century, this stage has built the confidence of generations of children. To carry this tradition safely into the next century, we need the energy, corporate backing, and hands-on help of our local business community.”
