Residents of Shanowen Estate in Rathcormac have finally seen some action as contractors took to an unfinished road within the estate to surface it.

The unfinished road, one of the key issues highlighted by local residents, was previously a gravel pathway riddled with potholes with residents having reported damaging cars on it in the past.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Cllr Frank O’Flynn said that the contractor arrived on site on Saturday last at 10.48am to begin levelling the site which was then tarmacked.

Estate resident and member of the Shanowen Estate Community Action Group, Stephen McCarthy, spoke with The Avondhu this week, stating that residents were ‘delighted’ to see action on the long-term issues faced by locals.
