Those living in the rural community of Carrignavar just over ten miles from Cork city were in a state of shock on Tuesday night.
News broke that the body of a 50 year old man had been discovered in the area shortly after 6pm.
The saga unfolded shortly after 11am on Tuesday morning when Gardaí were alerted to an incident involving a man armed with a shotgun on farmlands near Carrignavar.
