Here is the moment Mitchelstown native Archbishop Michael Crotty meets Pope Francis en route to take up his diplomatic post in West Africa.
Speaking to local media he said he was delighted to have arrived in Burkina Faso and extended his blessing to the people of his new home. He was pictured meeting local Church leaders, including Monsignor Laurent Birfuore Dabire who is the head of the Catholic Church in the area.
Archbishop Crotty arrived in Burkina Faso on September 7 having spent time at meetings in Rome. His role in Burkina Faso will see him as apostolic nuncio of that country and Niger.
