The National Transport Authority (NTA) has opened the application window for its first ever Active Travel Community Fund, enabling organisations to apply for funding for programmes and schemes which complement the aims and objectives of the Government’s Active Travel programme, particularly in relation to increasing modal shift away from private car use towards walking and cycling.
Supported by the Department of Transport, the Active Travel Community Fund will support groups and organisations across Ireland to promote walking and cycling, with a total of €1.5m being made available by the Department of Transport, with the process being managed by the NTA through its Active Travel Investment Programme.
6-WEEK WINDOW
Applications will be assessed on a number of factors including cost/value for money, the extent to which proposals encourage walking, cycling or wheeling, how the project delivers a demonstrated community need and how the project benefits people of all ages and abilities, including disabled users, older people and children.
The application window for the Active Travel Community Fund opened recently on Wednesday, 30th September, and will remain open for six weeks.
