
Ballyhoura Development CLG have announced they will be undertaking a feasibility study for a community owned anaerobic digester in the region.
Anaerobic digesters (AD) are one way of creating biomethane gas for use in Ireland, and with energy supply now a topic high on the agenda for both the public and politicians, the announcement is a timely one.
Europe has over 18,000 AD plants, however Ireland has just a handful. The conversation about where Ireland sources its energy is a prescient one since sanctions were imposed on Russia, the world’s leading exporter of gas.
