96% of people surveyed in Cork believe in a 3G holiday. Not, as one might suspect, anything to do with a phone but as in three generations – kids, parents and grandparents on holiday together.

The new survey, undertaken by Clayton Hotels, also revealed that 57% of families vow to take more 3G trips during the next five years – and almost 30% are organised and have them already booked.

After months of enforced separation, the desire for Irish families to stay connected is causing sweeping changes to the priorities of holidaymakers booking a break in 2022. Nowadays, with both a hectic modern family life and busy workloads, a 3G getaway can allows the family, it seems, to escape, relax and create memories together on the beach in Benidorm, in historic chapels in Rome, or taking a boat trip down the Danube.

After the painful separations of lockdown, the survey stated that 57% of Cork people say the pandemic made them value time with extended family more.

Within Cork, 64% locally are looking forward to a 3G holiday helping them create lasting memories. This is almost 10% more than any other city surveyed in Ireland – proof Cork people just love their families more? And 48% believe multi-generational holidays will help strengthen family relationships.

Meanwhile, of those questioned in the county, 38% believe a 3G holiday provides a great opportunity for parents to relax together while the grandparents “spend time” with the kids. We will let readers infer what that means!
