
Inspirational locals were amongst the hospital teams, as well as individuals and community groups, thanked for their extraordinary dedication and commitment which has made a lasting difference to patients of ‘The Mercy’ and their families across the region.
Mercy University Hospital and The Mercy Foundation honoured these Mercy Stars at their annual event on Friday last, September 11 at Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork, as their stories of compassion, dedication and teamwork took centre stage at the annual awards.
GLANWORTH MAN HONOURED
Among those recognised at this year’s Mercy Stars awards was Michael Fenton from Glanworth. Following his own cancer diagnosis and treatment, Michael took a challenging chapter of his life and turned it into something positive for others. In 2018, accompanied by fellow motorcyclists, Michael undertook the Silver Lining Tour, a 10,000-kilometre motorcycle journey to the North Cape in Norway to raise awareness and funds for people receiving care in ‘The Mercy’.
