GAA clubs in west Waterford have extended their thanks this week to Meta owner, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, who have donated €150,000 to three GAA clubs located closest to Strancally Castle.
Tallow GAA, Lismore GAA and Shamrocks GAA, each expressed disbelief at the donation, having been contacted by Zuckerberg’s team to discuss the proposition.
The billionaire social media company owner recently bought the Blackwater-side castle, located about 20km north of Youghal. A spokesperson for Zuckerberg outlined that the couple were aware of the significant role GAA plays in local communities and as new members of the community, wanted to support the clubs.
