
56 tankers of wastewater were removed between the months of April to July, 2026, from the ‘overloaded’ Carraig na bhFear Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
Significant attention has been drawn to the plant, as after years of campaigning for its upgrade, an ‘uncontrolled’ release into the River Cloghnagashee earlier this year saw raw sewage being discharged to the river, which feeds into the Glashaboy.
The plant, however, is understood to have long been at or over capacity, preventing development in the village for several years.
