2026 marks the bicentenary of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Tallow. The occasion was marked by a celebratory Mass last Saturday evening, where Bishop of Waterford & Lismore, Alphonsus Cullinan, officiated.
The bishop was assisted by Fr. Pat Butler, Fr. Patrick Condon, Fr. Stuart McGovern and the parish priest of Tallow and Ballyduff, Fr. Gerard McInerney. Dignitaries in attendance included, Cllr. John Pratt and Government Chief Whip, Mary Butler T.D. and representatives of the Cistercian order of nuns.
In his homily, Bishop Cullinan commended the dedication and steadfastness of parishioners and remarked that the attachment locals had to their church was reflected in the ambitious restoration currently underway.
