Experts working with children with ADHD to talk at Cork event

Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. David O’Driscoll, is one of the speakers at the event in Cork.

ADHD Ireland Cork is inviting anyone supporting a child or adolescent with ADHD to a ‘Meet The Experts’ event, which will feature clinicians who will share their own experiences and insights.

The event on Thursday, April 23rd is designed to provide a practical, evidence-based understanding of ADHD in children and adolescents. It offers attendees an opportunity to hear directly from clinicians working with ADHD in real-world settings.

Open to parents, educators, and anyone supporting a child with ADHD, the panel features Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. David O’Driscoll and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Kathryn Hallahan. The clinicians are attending in a personal and professional capacity and are not representing the HSE or speaking on behalf of CAMHS services.

The evening will include short presentations followed by a moderated question-and-answer session, with a focus on general understanding of ADHD. The panel will not be in a position to comment on individual cases.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental difference affecting approximately 5% of the population, leading to challenges in organisation, focus, and self-regulation.

“This is really about helping people understand ADHD a bit better from the people working with it every day,” Cork ADHD Ireland Service Development Manager, Martin Finn, said. “We meet a lot of parents who just aren’t sure where to start, and there’s still a lot of confusion around it. The idea is to give people something clear and practical they can take away.”

The event will take place on Thursday, April 23rd at 7.30pm in the Ballroom of The Metropole Hotel Cork – tickets are available on Eventbrite.
