
A Water Conservation Order (WCO), commonly known as a hosepipe ban, in place for Cork county, came to an end on September 16th. The drought-like conditions are still being experienced in some areas, including Whitechurch, which Uisce Éireann have said are currently being supplemented by tankered water.
Uisce Éireann implemented the ban on July 26th for the counties of Cork, Waterford, Tipperary and Wexford, to ‘safeguard the supply for essential services’. And, although now lifted earlier this week, the services provider is encouraging the public to continue conserving water as we move into the Autumn months.
They have also thanked the people of Cork for their support and cooperation, stating that the community’s efforts to reduce water usage and report leaks have been instrumental in protecting local supplies during a period of ‘unprecedented pressure’.
