
Well known Ballyhooly man, Liam Dineen, will travel to South Africa later this year to assist with the construction of a school – a project that’s part of ‘Mellon Educate’, an initiative started by Niall Mellon in 2002 to improve the lives of ordinary South Africans.
Liam’s family, neighbours, work colleagues and wide circle of friends have got behind the venture and at the time of going to press, his GoFundMe account was heading towards €9,000.
Evidence of Liam’s popularity was seen to good effect last Saturday, when upwards of 40 people joined him for a cross country walk from Fermoy to his beloved Ballyhooly. We didn’t get a chance to interview Liam in any great detail, however, he was upbeat about his forthcoming trip to South Africa and delighted with the level of support he’s received to date.
