Mayor’s highest honour bestowed on locals

Several locals have been bestowed with the highest honour that can be awarded by the Mayor of the County of Cork, as a civic reception was hosted at County Hall earlier this week.

The special event was held to recognise the achievements of the Avondhu GAA Board, Watergrasshill GAA, drift champion James Deane, Muintir na Tire and Transplant Sport Ireland.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Joe Carroll, paid tribute to the five recipients.

“This civic reception is about celebrating excellence, commitment and the spirit of community. The dedication of each group and …” the Mayor said.
