Fermoy ladies masters & co conquer the Rhine Marathon

Irish rowers in good spirits at the Rhine (Rhein) Marathon.

-A 43km row, a record-low river and a weekend to remember –

Two crews of Fermoy Rowing Club’s ladies’ masters have returned from Germany after completing the Rhine Marathon, a 43km row from Leverkusen to Ruderclub Germania in Düsseldorf.

The first crew consisted of Orla Barry, Etha Murphy, Catherine Clifford and Judith Uhleman, coxed by Norbert Richter. The second was made up of Marissa O’Keeffe, Fiona Goggin, Olga O’Sullivan and Toni Bracken, coxed by Lennart Eckartz.

For the past 35 years, Fermoy Rowing Club has sent a group to take part in the event, organised by Mike Donnellan and the team at Germania RC. This year, the ladies masters decided to take on the challenge for the first time.
