One of Grange GAA's most famous sons, Ned Kirby, was honoured at a function held in The Wagon Tavern, Fermoy last Friday night.
Members of the Bermingham family were in attendance to present this highly decorated footballer with the Walter Bermingham Perpetual Trophy.
Club historian, Christy Roche, detailed Ned's illustrious career, which saw him win All-Ireland titles with Cork at minor, U21 and senior grades – the latter coming in a historic win over Galway in 1973.
While he gained a national profile through his involvement with the Rebel County, Ned Kirby is best remembered locally for his loyalty and devotion to Grange GAA.
"Possessing all the attributes of an outstanding Gaelic footballer, Ned Kirby could have played with any of the top clubs in the county. The fact he stayed loyal to the club where it all started, speaks volumes for the deep ties he had with his team mates in Grange," Christy said.
