Houses were evacuated in the Castleterry area of Ballindangan on Friday last as Garda and Army bomb disposal units responded to a bomb scare.
The alarm was raised sometime after 4pm and a security cordon was put in place by gardaí as the army experts swept the area in search of the device.
Locals say up to 14 gardai attended the scene with a similar amount of army personnel.
