Marianne Harris and James O’Sullivan opened their spectacular Carrigfoyle garden to the public last Sunday as a fundraiser for Christ Church, Fermoy and the Irish Red Cross.
Both individuals are closely associated with these deserving causes, Marianne being a member of Christ Church, Fermoy Community Heritage Restoration Project, while James is an active member of the Fermoy branch of the Irish Red Cross.
Supporters turned out in force for an event that took place under a cloudless sky and on what was one of the warmest days of the year – so far. Suitably attired, visitors explored what is a very unusual garden, fronted by the busy Fermoy to Mallow road and backed by a natural cliff face. The garden is tiered in design with different levels accommodating a variety of native and exotic flora. Some were interested enough to take photographs and record the names of plants, while others left with a selection of plants from the plant stall for their own gardens.
