
Rathcormac village is one of the first locations in Cork county to have CCTV installed in a bid to combat illegal dumping. On Friday last, cameras were installed at the much abused bring site, where both bottle banks and clothing banks are located.
The bring site, over the years has been a hotspot for illegal dumping, with perpetrators leaving behind not just bottles and clothes when banks were full, but household waste and other unwanted items.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Cllr William O’Leary welcomed the news, after campaigning for around 6 years for CCTV, to catch and deter illegal dumpers.
