A reward of €2,000 is being offered for the recovery of 103 sheep (including lambs) that were stolen from Shanrahan Mountain in the Shanrahan Clogheen/Ballysaggart area.

It is believed the animals were taken from the lands that straddle the Tipperary Waterford border sometime between August 28 and September 3. The gardai have been notified.

Most of the animals, the property of Tom and John Barry, Kilcaroon Clogheen, were 2 to 3 year olds. They were marked red on their poles and blue down their tails. They also had a green mark on their pole with blue across their hips.

“They were there on the Wednesday but were gone on the Sunday,” Tom Barry told The Avondhu this week.

Tom said they have had sheep stolen from them over the past few years but never as many as on this occasion.

The animals are valued somewhere between €7,000 and €8,000, Tom says as he appealed to the public for their help in tracking down the animals. Tom can be contacted on 085-1496625.
