Cork’s Republic of Work hosted the third annual DeeptechFest Ireland, gathering industry experts, investors and thought leaders from the US and across Europe converging in the city for two days.
The flagship event for transformative technologies developed opportunities for deeptech investment in Ireland and across Europe with a number of sessions exploring planetary health, women’s wellbeing and the funding opportunities available.
The event was opened by Dan Boyle, Lord Mayor of Cork and sponsored by SOSV, a Republic of Work member and deeptech investor who has been instrumental in nurturing startups, particularly in life sciences, hardware, and climate tech.
Panel discussions examined Breaking Barriers in Women’s Health Care, ClimateTech 2050 and Cracking the Deeptech Capital Code. Keynote speakers Will Tope, LiNa Energy, looked at Building Deeptech that Powers the Planet, while Susan Schofer, General Partner and CSO, HAX, inspected Prototype to Product: Bringing Science to Market.
During the Pitch Battle session at the Pre-Event Networking Evening – sponsored by Local Enterprise Office Cork City, FCC Advisory, and Cunningham Solicitors – start-ups competed for prizes valued at up to €15,000. Siobhán Kelleher from OnaWave Medical emerged as the winner, recognised for their company’s innovative work in improving the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic conditions.
