Mitchelstown Enterprise Town, is an initiative by Bank of Ireland aimed at highlighting the economic and social strengths of villages and towns.

Fermoy has featured in the past and this time around it was neighbouring Mitchelstown that took centre stage. Organisers hit on a perfect venue when they selected Mitchelstown Leisure Centre to host the event.

All the promotion in the world will come to nought if there isn't local 'buy in' – in this regard, Mitchelstown went above and beyond the call of duty as over a hundred exhibitors took up residence, promoting a range of ventures from business and commerce to sport and self help groups.

One of the visitors, Cllr Deirdre O'Brien, said the event had struck a chord with businesses and voluntary groups. "This is a wonderful showcase for all manner of groups and associations …"
