After years of hard work and pressure from local councillors, the Tallow Link Road is finally complete and is due to be officially opened next Wednesday, December 13 at 12 noon.

The road, which gives direct access to Scoil Mhuire Tallow, will allow school traffic to bypass the town centre on the daily school run. It is hoped that the link road will reduce heavy traffic flows on the narrow streets of Chapel Street and New Street at school times.

“This has been going on with years,” said Cllr John Pratt. “It’s great to finally have it delivered. It will be of great benefit to the town.”

Cllr John Pratt is aware that there could be some teething problems in terms of traffic management and road safety when the new road comes into use.

“It will have to be monitored in the early days but I’d be hoping that the engineers have put a lot of thought into that,” he said.
