North Cork’s leading garda officer has sought to reassure victims of Domestic Abuse that the force is there to help them.
Chief Superintendent Tom Myers was speaking at the Cork County Joint Policing Committee and said his garda area has seen a 13% rise in incidents of the abuse since the start of the year.
There were 548 cases in Cork North Division where guards responded and assisted victims of violence in the home.
Chief Supt Myers said that his gardai were ready to assist and advise people who are suffering the horrific crime.
