Local Fianna Fail councillor William O’Leary has this week hit out at elected members who voted in favour of going into coalition with the Green Party considering the emissions targets now set for the agricultural sector.
“Over the next ten years, we are going to see huge pressure come on farmers to adapt to try and reach these targets. These unrealistic targets are going to cripple the industry. Is this the price of getting into and staying in power?” Cllr William O’Leary asked this week.
The local councillor not only criticised the recently introduced 25% emissions reduction target, but also fellow politicians who had initially voted in favour of the government coalition in 2020.
