A new integrated ticketing facility, which gives passengers the option of travelling to Cork Airport using rail and bus services – all on the one ticket – is now available.
The recently launched feature, which sees Cork Airport join forces with Iarnród Éireann and Bus Éireann, will allow customers making bookings on the Iarnród Éireann website, to add a transfer to Cork Airport and travel with convenience and ease from Kent Station to the airport using the 225 and 226 routes, operated by Bus Éireann.
The new integrated ticketing feature is another progressive step in improving public transport connectivity with Ireland’s fastest growing airport and now means that passengers can travel on Intercity services from Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Laois, Kildare and Dublin, along with Commuter services from Mallow, Midleton and Cobh, and enjoy a hassle-free journey to Cork Airport. With support from the National Transport Authority (NTA), the facility was introduced on the Iarnród Éireann website earlier this month.
Bus Éireann routes 225 and 226 provide a frequent service linking Cork Airport to Cork City Centre, Cork Bus Station and Cork Kent Railway Station. These routes operate every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes on Sundays and public holidays.
Cork Airport remains committed to working with the NTA and all transport providers, both local and national, to secure additional public transport services, giving passengers enhanced options in travelling to and from the airport.
Welcoming the introduction of the integrated ticketing system, Aled Williams, Regional Manager – South at Bus Éireann sais: “Bus Éireann, Ireland’s national bus company is delighted to mark the launch of this new integrated ticket to Cork Airport in conjunction with Iarnród Éireann. Community is core to Bus Éireann’s purpose to sustainably connect people and communities to who and what matters to them, helping to make life better. This new integrated ticket will benefit passengers travelling from all over the country to Cork Airport by rail and bus. Our frequent bus services from Kent Station to Cork Airport operate every 30 minutes Monday – Saturday and hourly on a Sunday and public holidays.”
