Hundreds of Dairygold farmers turned out in Mitchelstown last Thursday, for a meeting with the dairy co-operative.

Dairygold members attended the Member Information Meeting called by the co-operative at the Firgrove Hotel, following on from the recent 3c/l cut to the milk price for August supplies, a decision that has sparked anger, protests, and fears of further cuts into 2026.

The gathering is believed to have been attended by more than 600 farmers, with some event stating the figure to be between 800-1,000 – nearby O’Connell Park was used as an overflow car park.
