2024 marks the centenary of Fermoy Musical Society. This significant milestone has been marked with 2 civic receptions (Fermoy Town Hall and Cork City Hall), a book launch, a celebratory ball, a photographic exhibition and currently, a lavish production of ‘Shrek The Musical’, which opened in the Palace Theatre, Fermoy last Saturday night.
The following evening, members past and past, along with special guests, were treated to a pre-show reception in Fermoy Community Youth Centre. Again, this was another memorable occasion for Fermoy Musical Society and set the tone for a production that has already earned rave reviews.
Speaking prior to the show, FMS President, Dr. Tom Beresford, acknowledged the collective effort required to stage such an elaborate production. He made special mention of Killian Collins (director), Ronan Holohan (musical director) and Therese O’Sullivan (choreographer).

It benefits from an elaborate set, designed and constructed by Diarmuid Vaughan, a singalong score, clever dialogue and plenty laughs.
