Five students from St Colman's College in Fermoy who received an A in their Junior Cert Higher Level maths exams last year, went on to represent their school in the Irish Beaver Contest before Christmas.

The All-Ireland problem-solving challenge focuses on computational and logical thinking and recognises excellence in mathematics. The competition is also part of the International Bebras Computing Contest, which introduces computer science to students, engaging their interest at a young age in computing and computational thinking.

Successful students were presented with their certificates at the school during the week.
