Several observations to proposed renewable gas facility

The Nephin Renewable Gasproposal for an anaerobic digestion facility on the outskirts of Mitchelstown, facesa number of objections from local residents, with several recent submissions to the current planning.

Local residents have voiced concerns during the most recent window for planning submissions, over matters relating to feedstock, public health and safety risks, environmental effects, noise pollution, traffic, odour and the effect of the amenity on the town, should the development proceed. Approximately a dozen residents have stated their concerns to the planning authority, that Nephin have not addressed these issues or properly addressed them with verifiable evidence. 

Regarding the matter of consultancy and engagement, one Mitchelstown couple stated: “Nephin Gas claim they have consulted with an average of 2-3 people per residence in the area in proximity to the proposed development and not one person in this household has met anyone from Nephin Gas or had any indication that anyone has called or requested to meet us or engage with us.”
