A large crowd attended last Saturday’s ‘Save The Weir’ march in Fermoy. In terms of raising awareness and focusing attention, the event was a success.
Organised by former trade union activist William Hughes and Sinn Fein local election candidate Helen White (along with others), the aim of the march was to fast forward the process that would see the weir repaired or ideally completely rebuilt.
What was clear from proceedings is the level of goodwill towards the restoration project and the sincerity of those behind the march and rally.
