Concerns have been raised by members of the public and a local public representative over the deteriorating condition of the Avondhu-Blackwater Way walk, between Ballyhooly and Fermoy.
Heavy rainfall over this year and last has caused parts of the pathway to collapse and for safety barriers to fall away.
When contacted this week, one volunteer who oversees the maintenance of the walkway said repair work started last week and will be completed by the end of this week.
Starting out near to the Glenabo Woods on the Ballyhooly to Fermoy road, the walk meanders through woodland and along the River Blackwater, before opening onto fields and moving up to Barnane Walk in Fermoy.
