Plans to develop a new retail centre within the Blackwater Shopping Centre in Fermoy have been put on hold, after Cork County Council requested further information on an ongoing planning application by local developers.

The new planning application, incorporating the amalgamation of the vacant units one, two and three within the shopping centre, is seeking the change of use from an amusement arcade in unit one to retail use and to form one new unit for retail use, as previously granted under a planning application from 11 years ago.

Currently unit one of the shopping centre is earmarked for an amusement arcade, following a successful planning application by entertainment company Perks last year.
