PAWS UP! Mitchelstown launches as Ireland’s newest dog-friendly destination

Mitchelstown is rolling out the red carpet for its four-legged friends as the town officially launches itself as a dog-friendly destination this weekend.

From shopping and dining to overnight stays, Mitchelstown promises to welcome both locals and visitors who don’t want to leave their furry companions behind.

The festivities kick off on Saturday, October 11th at 11am in Slinky’s Pet Shop, where local celebrity Paddy ‘the Builder’ will cut the ribbon alongside his beloved dog Mollie. Expect plenty of tail wags as freebies and treats are handed out to canine guests. Right next door, talented artist Beata will be offering free puppy sketch portraits, ensuring dogs get their moment of fame on paper.

The celebration then moves to the Town Hall at 12 noon, starting with a professional dog photoshoot (advance booking at mtownba@hotmail.com). Shortly after, Kim from Adventure Tails Dog Training will take the stage for a live demo on good canine etiquette while out and about.

At 1pm, Janelle Power will share expert grooming and care tips, followed by Spratts Veterinary Clinic, who will focus on dog health and nutrition.

Throughout the town, shops displaying the ‘dog-friendly’ signs will welcome customers and their companions, making Mitchelstown a true haven for both humans and hounds.

So grab the leash, pack the treats, and get ready to discover a town where dogs are more than welcome – they’re the guests of honour.
