A project to make changes to doorways and access in the control room of the Palace Theatre at Fermoy Community Youth Centre (FCYC) is now under way to remedy a concern raised by the visiting fire safety officer recently.
As part of the process in applying for their annual public dance hall licence for the ballroom at the Youth Centre, the fire safety officer from Cork County Council came to inspect the premises.
Although there was never a fire safety problem noted during previous yearly inspections, a concern was raised on this occasion in relation to access in a control room area of the Palace Theatre. Every other aspect of the large building was deemed to comply with regulations.
Kieran Barry, manager at Fermoy Community Youth Centre, said that great progress has been made since the initial recommendation three weeks ago.
