Exactly one month before the late Catherine Spillane’s first anniversary, a staggering €57,700.70 was presented to Marymount University Hospital and Hospice on Friday last, March 13th, the final figure reached following the Conna Valentine’s Dance and Monster Raffle held last month.
The presentation of funds was a significant moment for her friends and family, as they followed through on the local woman’s final wishes. The Spillane family and organising committee of the Valentine’s Dance in Conna have now raised over €153,000 for charitable organisations across the two Valentine’s dinner dances, held in Catherine’s name, in 2025 and 2026.
Speaking at the cheque presentation on Friday, Catherine’s friend Assumpta Mangan, said that they met with representatives of the finance department and the family liaison officer on the day.
