
Inland Fisheries Ireland have advised Cork County Council that ‘at this time’ they will not be providing funding for the Fermoy weir remediation and fish pass.
Updates on the project were outlined at Monday’s meeting of the Northern Divisional Committee, at which, it was outlined that the council would progress the preparation of tender documents, however, the tender process cannot commence until funding is confirmed.
“Cork County Council submitted an Expression of Interest to Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) for funding under their national Barrier Mitigation Programme. IFI advised in early February 2026 that at this time they will not be providing funding for this project,” the update read.
