Minister of State at the Department of Justice and TD for Limerick County, Niall Collins, has encouraged interested people in Limerick to apply for a career with An Garda Síochána upon the launch of a new Garda Recruitment campaign by the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O’Callaghan TD, and the Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly.
The competition has was launched on Monday, 11 May and will remain open until Wednesday, 3 June at 3pm.
Minister Collins said: “I very much welcome the launch of the latest Garda recruitment campaign. As a Government we are committed to supporting Gardaí and ensuring that more Gardaí are out in our villages, towns and communities and that they have the skills and equipment they need.
“Recruitment into An Garda Síochána is continuing at pace. I attended the latest attestation ceremony at the Garda Training College this month, which saw 193 new Gardaí assigned across the country. This was followed by an entry into the College of 201 new trainees, which is hugely encouraging as it marked the fourth consecutive intake of over 200 Garda trainees.
“This competition announced this week will ensure that there is a strong pipeline of new recruits which will continue to increase the size of the Garda organisation in line with our Programme for Government commitments.
“A career in An Garda Síochána is demanding, but it is a job worth doing. It is particularly rewarding as the Gardaí’s work is hugely varied and connects them to the communities they serve and I encourage everyone, particularly in Limerick, who is interested in this opportunity to apply on publicjobs.ie.”
HELPING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Stating that being a Garda is something ‘where you can make a positive difference to people and communities every day’, Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly encouraged applications to this latest round of recruitment.
“I want to encourage people from all backgrounds to join An Garda Síochána. It is important that we represent the communities we serve. Being a Garda is definitely a job worth doing,” he stated.
Applications are being managed by publicjobs on behalf of An Garda Síochána and can be submitted via www.publicjobs.ie.
