DASCL Property Ltd has applied to Cork County Council for planning permission to construct a nine-unit apartment block on Church Place, Oliver Plunkett Hill, Fermoy.
The development is to take place on the site of what once was The Twilight Zone bar and nightclub which was established back in the 1970s by Bernie Tobin of The Fontana Showband.
Prior to that, it was the home and public house of the Meehan family.
The Twilight Zone was once a thriving hub of activity with live music every weekend which saw some of the top cabaret acts and bands on stage there.
The application for the new development at the site includes the demolition of the existing single story and three-story building at 4 Church Place, in order for the three-story apartment block development to take place with two own-door apartment blocks.
The development is to consist of nine units in total, comprising of 4×1 bedroom ground floor apartments, 1×1 bedroom, and 4×2 bedroom first floor duplex units.
The construction would also involve the relocation of an advertising billboard along with the creation of a new vehicular entrance off of Oliver Plunkett Hill.
