Cork County Council, in partnership with the Creative Ireland Programme, is delighted to announce the return of My Creative Wish for 2027, an initiative that gives children and young people the opportunity to turn their creative ideas into reality.
Aligned with Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people, the programme celebrates imagination, curiosity, and creative expression by inviting participants to share a creative experience they would love to explore.
Building on the success of previous years, My Creative Wish has become a flagship initiative for nurturing creativity across the county. In 2026, almost 40 wishes were realised through artist-led workshops delivered in schools and libraries throughout the county. Young participants explored an exciting range of creative disciplines, including architecture, theatre, dance, circus arts, ceramics, baking, design, ballet, and many more.
WORKSHOPS
For 2027, Cork County Council’s Culture and Creativity Team will once again select a number of winning wishes from entries submitted by schools and youth groups. Successful applicants will receive a series of six fully funded workshops led by professional artists and creative practitioners, allowing entire classes and groups to immerse themselves in a unique creative learning experience.
In addition to the main awards, a number of runners-up will receive Creative Ireland-funded workshops delivered through their local library, ensuring even more young people can engage in hands-on creative activities.
The outcomes of the winning projects will be showcased as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2027, taking place on Saturday, 12th June 2027. Showcases may include exhibitions, performances, demonstrations, concerts, installations, or other forms of creative presentation, highlighting the talent, imagination, and originality of young people across Cork.
NOVEMBER DEADLINE
Welcoming the launch of the initiative, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Bernard Moynihan, said that My Creative Wish is a “fantastic opportunity for young people to discover new skills, engage with professional artists, and see their ideas come to life”.
Whether their interest lies in circus skills, coding, costume design, cartooning, choreography, music, visual arts, or an entirely new creative adventure, Cork County Council is encouraging young people throughout the county to submit their ideas and take part.
Schools and youth groups interested in taking part can request an application pack by emailing creativeireland@corkcoco.ie before 23rd October. The closing date for applications is 13th November.
