The Hope Foundation (HOPE), the Cork-based charity dedicated to supporting street-connected and slum dwelling children and communities in Kolkata, India, proudly announces the appointment of Cork-native Alex Kendellen as its newest ambassador.
With HOPE celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the addition of Alex as an ambassador further strengthens the organisation’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. With his passion for social impact and dedication to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children, Alex brings a wealth of enthusiasm and commitment to his role as ambassador.
Alex plays as a flanker for Munster Rugby and is currently studying for a BSc in Food Marketing and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Food Business and Development (FBD), which is headed up by long-standing HOPE board member, Dr Mary O Shaughnessy.
RESILIENCE & COMPASSION
Commenting on his new role, Alex expressed his excitement.
“I’m delighted to be a part of The Hope Foundation and look forward to supporting HOPE’s efforts in improving the lives of street-connected and slum-dwelling communities in Kolkata, Inda,” he said.
As a professional rugby player and having already captained Munster and Ireland Under 20s, Alex is no stranger to dedication and hard work, qualities that align closely with The Hope Foundation’s values of resilience and compassion. His involvement with the organisation will help raise awareness and support for its programmes, which provide vital services such as healthcare, education, and vocational training to vulnerable populations. HOPE runs 58 projects in Kolkata, including 10 residential childcare centres, 5 creches and a hospital.
“We are delighted to welcome Alex on board as a new ambassador for HOPE during our 25th anniversary year,” said Maureen Forrest, Founding President of The Hope Foundation. “His enthusiasm and dedication will help further our mission and positively impact our efforts in Kolkata, India.”
The appointment of Alex comes at a significant time for The Hope Foundation as it marks a quarter-century of lifechanging and lifesaving work in Kolkata.
