Taking the title of Shakespeare's play, 'Much Ado About Nothing', one can safely apply it to all the fuss that has been created about David McCarthy's 'selfie' with cyclist Marcel Kittel after the German had completed the Dublin stage of the Giro d'Italia race on Sunday. Yes, Kittel was in a collapsed state at the time, but pictures are taken of sports men and women in all conditions whether it be euphoria or despair?

There were 9 or 10 photographers and cameramen all around the cyclist at the same time David took his picture. Did they put their cameras down until Mr Kittel had fully recovered? I should think not.

In one sense it proves how easy it is for something to 'go viral' these days on social media and just how dangerous this medium can be. Evidently, David's friends thought the picture was a hoot while many others would say it was a great picture for a young man so interested in the sport to have of one of his heroes as a keepsake!
