Work is underway at Kildorrery National School to construct three special education rooms, one new classroom and a universal access toilet (UAT) facility.

The new extension will cost €345,977 to complete and will include an upgrade to the existing fire system and safety equipment.

Kildorrery NS principal Rachel Kelly, said the growing numbers attending the school meant it was ‘tight for space’, “In my ten years at the school, numbers have grown from 107 pupils to 193. This year we have the largest junior infants class (32 pupils) in my time here.”

“In recent years we have almost doubled in classroom size, from four classrooms to seven, so space was really at a premium. The new extension will make a huge difference,” Ms Kelly said.
