Kay Dawson co-opted to McCarthy’s council seat

Kay Dawson was co-opted to the council seat of the recently elected TD Noel McCarthy in the Fermoy Municipal District, at a Fine Gael Convention held last week.

Kay Dawson has been co-opted to the Fermoy Municipal District following a Fine Gael convention held on Thursday last, December 12th at the Firgrove Hotel in Mitchelstown. The former Mitchelstown councillor will be filling the seat of Cllr Noel McCarthy, who was elected to Dáil Éireann last month.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Cllr Dawson, who was a sitting councillor until the local elections this year, said she was ‘thrilled’ with the decision.

“It is a privilege to have been co-opted to replace Noel in Cork County Council. I can’t wait. I’m really looking forward to working closely with the other county councillors to deliver to the best of our ability for the Fermoy Municipal District,” Cllr Dawson said.
