Helen McEntee, Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, has announced that Ireland will be the host of the 4th International Youth Mental Health Conference.

The International Association for Youth Mental Health (IAYMH), has selected Dublin as the venue for the 4th International Youth Mental Health Conference.

Under the theme of Future Proofing Youth Mental Health, the conference will bring together leading researchers, practitioners and young people from all over the world to showcase the latest research and best practice in the field of youth mental health.

Speaking about the event the Minister said, “The International Youth Mental Health Conference in 2017 provides an exciting opportunity for young people and mental health professionals from around the world to visit Ireland to share their knowledge and experience. Collaborative events like this are vital in helping to ensure that we develop a more open and supportive society of the mental health needs of young people, not only in Ireland, but around the world.”

The Minister was joined in her announcement by young people involved with the organisations that have worked together to bring the event to Ireland, including Jigsaw – The National Centre for Youth Mental Health, UCD, YES (Youth Empowerment Services, St Pats), RCSI, and Reachout.
